Robert E. Wertz, MD, FACS

Dr. Robert E. Wertz has been a Member of the Altoona Hospital Medical Staff for greater than 30 years. He has held many positions, including Director of the Dept. of Surgery, and currently is Chairman of the Board for both the Altoona Hospital and Central Pennsylvania Health Services Corporation. In September, 2000, Dr. Wertz opened his doors and welcomed new physicians to his practice - Dr. Simon Lampard and Dr. Johannes Schokker.

Dr. Wertz maintains professional memberships as a Fellow in the American College of Surgeons, a member of the Blair County Medical Society, the Pennsylvania Medical Society, and the American Medical Association.

Simon D. Lampard, MD, FACS

Dr. Simon Lampard joined Lexington Surgical Associates in August, 2000 - relocating to Altoona from sunny Jacksonville, Florida with his wife and children.

Dr. Lampard received his medical degree from the University of Washington School of Medicine, before moving to complete his post-graduate training at the University of Florida system.

Dr. Lampard is a Fellow in the American College of Surgeons, and a member of EAST (Eastern Association for the Surgery of Trauma).

In addition to his general surgery practice, Dr. Lampard is also the Director of Altoona Hospital's Trauma Service. He was formerly the Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery for the University of Florida Health Science Center/Jacksonville, at a Level One Trauma Center.

His surgical interests include hernia surgery, GI tract surgery, biliary tract surgery, complex wounds and the care of injured or critically ill surgical patients.

Johannes Schokker, MD, FACS

Dr. Johannes Schokker, a native of The Netherlands, relocated to Central Pennsylvania from Jefferson City, Missouri, in July, 2000, to be closer to family.

With over 30 years experience in both general/trauma surgery, Dr. Schokker, he has received many honors, including Diplomate of the American Board of Surgery; Fellow in the American College of Surgeons, and a Fellow in the University of Missouri Surgical Society.

Dr. Schokker is also a Member of the Altoona Hospital Trauma Team, providing trauma care to our community.

Matthew E. Newlin, MD

Dr. Newlin joined Lexington Surgical Associates in 2004. Dr. Newlin is a 1987 graduate of Tyrone Area High School and has most recently completed an Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery Fellowship at the Ohio State University Medical Center. In August 2004, he returned to the area with his wife and joined Lexington Surgical Associates where he performs all aspects of general surgery with an emphasis on advanced laparoscopic surgery and laparoscopic bariatric surgery.

Dr. Newlin is board certified in general surgery by the American Board of Surgery. He is a member of the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons, the American Society for Bariatric Surgery, and the American College of Surgeons.

Mohammad S. Siddiqui, MD

Lexington Surgical Associates welcome the addition of Mohammad S. Siddiqui, MD. Dr. Siddiqui is well-trained General, Trauma and Critical Care surgeon. He completed his general surgery training and trauma and critical care training from Hahnemann University (now called Derexel University), Philadelphia in 2002. He is double board certified - one in General Surgery and one in Surgical Critical Care. Apart from being a Fellow of American College of Surgeon, he is also a Fellow of Royal College of Surgeon, Edinburgh, United Kingdom. Recently, he completed his MBA in Health Care Management with Honors.

His expertise are General, Gastroenterological surgery including GI Endoscopy, Laparoscopic surgery, pediatric surgery, breast and endocrine surgery besides Trauma and Critical care.
